We joined forces with Next magazine to feature some our favorite picks, plus it’s the perfect time to start thinking about your Spring closet. So you can say goodbye to the darkness of winter and hello playful Spring! Here’s what happened on the shoot…
It was a chilly February day but we tried not to let this damper our spirits. An up beat soundtrack and plenty of coffee helped get us through the day. The morning began with hair and make up. As make-up artist Jiu Leung and hair stylist Cooney Lai worked their magic, talk began on what items we’re coveting this Spring. The aim was to going for a glamorous and chic look: sleek and straight hair paired with dark smoky eyes.
Our in-house stylist and Next magazine fashion editor collaborated to create the four different spring looks. We wanted to show the range of styles that would suit different occasions and tastes, from fun and flirty, work wear to a casual weekend look. The first look was fun and playful, a Fendi monster dress played center stage. It was teamed quirky accessories to continue the fun feel: Cecilia Ma mad hatter’s tea party inspired clutch, pretty pink Balenciaga sandals and a butterfly Gucci scarf tied around the wrist. The backdrop of some cool street art helped to give this look a cool vibe.
The next look was to show how work wear could be practical and stylish. The Altuzarra for Target skirt-dress gives the illusion that you’re wearing separates; a blue and white pinstripe shirt and python print knee-length skirt when it fact its one dress! This makes dressing for work super easy. We added glamorous accessories: matte gold Gucci disco bag and Gianvito Rossi white shimmer sandals, to take you from the office to cocktail hour. Any shoots outside are always a bit of a challenge; whilst shooting on the street we had to work around passer-by’s walking in front of the camera and local traffic.
Throughout the day, there were lots of different shots and filming to be done, as Next magazine were shooting for an editorial shoot as well as a video, that included an interview with Guiltless founder, Yen Kuok. It was quite a chilly day, in between looks Yen kept warm with the help of her trusted Ugg boots and cosy shearling Craven coat. Bring on Spring!
The third look: was channeled a more girly side. But not wanted to look too sweet, we went for a bold red geranium print Gucci dress, from their FW 2015 collection. Loved by bloggers and celebrities alike, this is the perfect spring dress. We gave it an extra chic touch by adding some statement Etro earrings and a classic Hermés canvas Kelly bag.We ended the shoot with a more casual weekend look, that had a slight nautical feel. Spring is the perfect time to get out those white jeans out again, teamed with navy Chloé cropped peacoat. We continued the nautical feel by adding white and gold accessories. A perfect look for brunch with friends or a day shopping. It’s a wrap!! After a full day of shooting, everyone was exhausted but excited to see the finished results. Checkout the finished video here
